Basic Six

Project Basic Six is the first project of year one of Aviation Studies. As the projectteam of Amsterdam Leeuwenburg Airlines (ALA), we've been asked to make a modern, uniform cockpit design for a new aircraft. The knowledge we need is based on an analysis of the basic six interment in the cockpit of a Cessna 172. We are going to determine how to display the state and behavior of the aircraft is established and how it is indicated in the cockpit.

Therefore describe the construction and operation of the systems.Here you can restrict the investigation primarily to the tools of the Basic Six, as are placed on legally prescribed manner for both pilots.

Flight Controls

Project Flight Controls is the second project of the first year Aviation Studies. The low-cost airline Amsterdam Airlines Leeuwenburg (ALA) wants to expand it's fleet and need to buy new appliances. Having evaluated all the options, the final choice must be made between the Boeing 737NG and the Airbus A320. The managementteam would like to get an insight look at the maintenance costs of the flight control systems on both the Boeing and the Airbus.

Project Airport

The third project of Aviation Studies is the design of a new airport. Rotterdam Airport wants to get rid of the General Aviation, to limit the noise. The released capacity would be utilized for more business activities, which better suits the objectives of this airport. However, Rotterdam Airport has to come up with acceptable alternatives that must be found for the relocation of the general aviation. The new site should provide the same capabilities, as airport Zestienhoven. The residents in the nearby area of the newly designed airport may not encounter any nuisance after the commissioning the new airport, so that objection procedures can be prevented.

Landing Gear

For an existing intercontinental aircraft type is considered to do business with a new supplier of landing gears. The terms of dimensions and operation of the landing gear are similar to the existing type, but because of the difference in the small details and especially the production process the certification authority asks for a new certification process. For this process, the developer of this new landing gear has given the order to the engineering division to investigate the operation of the landing gear of this (to choose) modern airliner, the relevant requirements of the legislation and the mechanical analysis.

Powerplant

The Fokker70 comes, as far as its payload-range performance is concerned, in two variances: With and without centre fuel tank. It is possible to modify an existing F70 without centre tank to the version with such tank. This modification however is expensive, time consuming and can only be done at the Fokker Services facility in Woensdrecht, which is fully booked for years to come.

As there is an increasing demand for Fokker70 type aircraft with the payload-range capabilities as offered by the F70 with centre tank, and such aircraft are not readily available, Amsterdam Leeuwenburg Aero Engines has decided to try and develop a new engine that would offer the required payload-range to the F70 without fuel tank modification.
